TREATMENTS

MEDICAL CANNABIS

Medical cannabis, also known as medical marijuana, is an herbal plant that has been used to treat ailments and conditions for centuries. Research has shown that medical marijuana can be a safe and effective treatment for some people under close physician supervision.

Medical cannabis is a broad term that includes all parts of the marijuana plant, from the seeds to the resin extraction. Low-THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) cannabis contains tiny amounts of the psychoactive compound, which may produce a "high" euphoric experience.

The use of medical cannabis is closely regulated by the State of Florida and can only be dispensed for approved conditions like:

  • AIDs

  • ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease)

  • Cancer

  • Crohn’s Disease

  • Chronic nonmalignant pain

  • Epilepsy

  • Glaucoma

  • HIV Positive Status

  • Multiple Sclerosis

  • Parkinson’s

  • PTSD

To receive medical cannabis from Dr. Mazza, patients must meet the following criteria:

  • You must permanently reside in Florida.

  • You must be a patient of Dr. Mazza's and/or the Metabolic Center for Wellness.

  • You must have a qualifying medical condition.

  • You must have tried other treatments without success.

  • The benefits must outweigh any potential perceived risk.

If you meet the criteria above and are interested in discussing medical cannabis with Dr. Mazza, schedule a certification consultation to determine if you qualify for treatment under the Florida regulated medical cannabis program. She'll also review your medical history and conduct an exam.

If approved for the program, Dr. Mazza will create a treatment plan that allows you to apply to the state of Florida for a Medical Marijuana Identification Card. You will have to present valid Florida identification such as a Florida State issued ID or a Florida driver’s license. Please note, medical cannabis consultations and the application fee are not covered by health insurance.
